Recovering your Alike Installation
This article will provide an overview of the procedures required for the following situations:
-Recovering an Alike installation from backup
-Migrating an Alike installation to a new server
Using the recovery option in the Alike installer, the steps to migrate or recover an Alike install are basically the same, and fairly straightforward. In order to recover an Alike installation you simply need to run a recvery install, and locate the path to your Data Store (ADS). This can be done on a fresh installation, or on top of an existing, damaged install. Alike will be able to recover the necessary information directly from the provided Data Store location.
1. Ensure the ADS (recovered or migrated) is in the location you wish to use permanently.
2. Run the Alike installer and select the "Recovery Installation" checkbox on the first page.
3. Follow the wizard and provide the path to the Data Store from step 1.
4. Complete the installer and open the Alike UI to verify everything was successful.
5. If this was a recovery situation you should run an Optimize job with a full consistency check to ensure the Data Store has not been damaged.
Please note: you may backup your Alike installation folder for additional coverage, but Alike only requires that you backup your Data Store in order to recover Alike completely.
