After restoring a VM from Alike, restart does not work

Date Added June 8, 2011 | Print

Under certain circumstances, restored VMs cannot correctly execute restart instructions. Instead of shutting down and then immediately booting back up, the VMs only shut down, requiring the user to request "start" in order to boot it again.

This issue is known to affect Windows VMs backed up using Alike's Enhanced Backup and replicated using Alike's Enhanced Replicate. Some Linux VMs also appear to be affected.

This issue affects Alike 2.0.6.

Alike 2.0.7 will resolve this issue.

To manually fix an affected VM, issue the following command from the dom0 console:

xe vm-param-set uuid=[the vm's uuid here] actions-after-reboot=Restart
